Exam Structure: A Four-Section Symphony

The CUET exam comprises four distinct sections, each playing a vital role in assessing your candidacy. Let’s explore each section in detail:

  • Section I: Languages (Compulsory)

In this section NTA provides the 13 languages for candidates and this provides 13 options to candidates in which they can choose the language for their CUET exam. The 13 languages provided are Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi and Urdu. Candidates have 50 questions which they have to attempt 40 questions in the  CUET exam. For every correct answer 5 marks will be given to candidate and 1 negative mark will be given for the wrong answer.

  • Section II: Domain-Specific Subjects (Choice Based)

In CUET 2024 two new subjects are added and these two are Tourism and Fashion Studies. Students can check from the list which is given below.

  • Marking Scheme: Understanding the Rewards and Penalties

  • The CUET marking scheme uses a system in which marks are awarded for correct answers and deducted for incorrect attempts.

  • Each correct answer in any section is worth 5 points.

  • For each incorrect answer one mark will be deducted. This penalty discourages random guessing.
